Trail Administrator - 09/08/09
David Laleme has resigned his position as trail
administrator. With his busy work schedule, he felt it best for the
club to have someone in the position that could devote more time to
the trails. Wendell Kenison agreed to fill the open position.
The Ammonoosuc Valley ATV Club commends
David for all his years of service as trail administrator and for
the fine work he did to keep our trails in shape & safe. Thank you
David!
Elections - 06/09/09
The club elections were held at the June meeting.
Our new officers & Board of Directors are set for the
2009-2010 season, which starts July 1, 2009. Congratulations!
By-Law Vote - 11/11/08
The vote to amend the by-laws was held tonight.
The change was to add "April - December" for when our monthly
meetings will be held. The outcome of the vote was 10 yes & 1 no.
This means that we will only hold monthly meeting
April though December. There will be no monthly meeting in January,
February or March.
Rail Trails - 03/03/08
I'm sure everyone has read the news articles and
heard the news reports about ATV & Trail Bikes on rail trails in the
winter. This is only on trails that were bought using federal funds.
This does not affect our rail trail locally in any way, shape or
form.
These are the trails that are impacted:
Conway
Branch (Ossipee-Conway)
Northern
(Boscawen-Lebanon)
Farmington (Farmington-Rochester)
Cheshire (North Walpole-Fitzwilliam)
Ashuelot (Keene-Winchester)
Fort Hill (Hinsdale)
Monadnock (Jaffrey-MA state line)
Manchester/Lawrence (Salem-Windham)
By-Law Vote - 06/12/07
The recent vote for a
change in the by-laws is complete. A total of 23 votes were needed
to make this vote valid. A total of 24 votes were cast, 22 "Yes" and
2 "No". The change to the by-laws passed.
Community Day - 09/24/06
A thank you goes out to
everyone who attended "Community Day" today, despite the rain toward
the end. Turnout was fantastic and everyone enjoyed the free BBQ.
The club extends a special thanks to The Woodsville Guaranty Savings
Bank for doing all of the BBQing. Great job guys!
North Haverhill Trailhead - 09/18/06
Our trailhead parking lot
project was completed today. Hopefully this will take care of the
severe mud conditions that appear here every spring. I guess time
will tell.
Poker Run - 09/09/06
A thank you goes out to
everyone who attended the poker run. It was a beautiful day to be
out on the trails!
The top hand, which was a
Full House (3 Jacks and a pair of 5's) was drawn by Nancy Shattuck
of Warren, NH.
Congratulations Nancy!
Dust Control - 05/09/06
The club approved the
purchase of a 45 gallon pressurized tow behind sprayer. This will
enable us to lay down liquid calcium chloride on selected areas of
the trails, that are near houses, to help control the dust. We hope
to take delivery on this within the next few weeks. The Town of
Haverhill has offered to supply us with the calcium chloride needed.
2006 GIA - 04/12/06
Our 2006 grant has been
submitted . We are now waiting for notification on its approval. If
all goes as planned, this will be a busy season. We are hoping to
completely resurface 2 bridges (one in Bath and one in Woodsville).
This is in addition to our normal grooming, grading and repairs. If
you are interested in helping out with trail projects this season,
please let the trail administrator know.
Trailer Update - 01/26/06
The club is happy to
announce that we purchased an 18' equipment trailer to enable us to
haul our tractor to different job locations. We expect to take
delivery of the new trailer on 01/31/06. A special thanks goes out
to Littleton Motorsports for helping us reach our goal.
Raffle Winner -
11/23/05 The raffle for two ATV's, two
Snowmobiles or one of each which benefited Special Olympics New
Hampshire, NHOHVA and local clubs is complete. Congratulations to
Shaun Hawkins of Milford, NH who held the winning ticket #3556.
The Club
was awarded a federal RTP grant in the amount of $18,000, which enabled us to
purchase a new 2005 Kubota L2800 tractor with front bucket loader, 6 foot
grader blade and 6 foot york rake. We took possession of the tractor
early summer 2005. This tractor has allowed us to do better trail
maintenance than has been possible in the past. Already this season, the
tractor has been used to fill in several sink holes and washouts along
the trails. We are currently looking for a trailer to allow us to haul
the tractor around to different job locations.
Frank Stiegler has received generous donations for
The Augie Fund from Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank, Walker Motor
Sales, both of Woodsville, and Patten's Gas of North Haverhill. These
funds will be put toward the completion and maintenance of "Augies Take
a Break" pavilion across from Aldrich's General Store in North
Haverhill. Our sincere thanks goes out to these folks!
In October
2005, the Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank announced that our club was
the chosen organization for their 3rd quarter "Casual Days" award. The
club was presented with a check in the amount of $941 to benefit The
Augie Fund. A sincere "Thank You" goes out to all of the bank employee's
who made this award possible.
